The Deputy sat quietly in the corner of the bathroom, knees tucked into her chest, as she looked at the door with a frown. She tried to make herself as small as possible while she hid in the already small bathroom. She knew it was coming. A few days before the present, Rook had smelled the change of pheromones and scents that he produced, indicating that his rut was close. Both of them knew it. Rook had locked herself away from the man whom she had been fighting just a short few weeks ago. She had zero intention or will to be with him or to fill his needs during his time. He had hurt and used so many people, and Rook had no intention of also being used by the Alpha that she was trapped in this bunker with.

The rustling of the locked doorknob followed by a loud and commanding knock at the door pulled Rook from her thoughts. Her body tensed up at the sound, eyeing the door as he began to speak through the door to the Omega. "Please come out." His voice sounded as if he was in distress. He had figured out what she was doing about an hour after she had disappeared into the bathroom. She was playing keep away, trying to avoid him. He had told himself that he'd wait for her, but that was a while ago already and his need for relief was growing. It was getting to the point where he was getting antsy.

He took a deep breath and knocked on the door again, this time with more force. Anyone would have mistaken his knocking for banging on the door. "Open the door" He demanded, his voice sounding more hoarse by the second. "You are just delaying the

Disconcerted by Booker’s expression, Tom’s brow drew into a confused frown before realization dawned and with a yelp, he cupped both hands over his groin. Embarrassment heated his face, flaming his cheeks a bright shade of amber, and he cursed his misfortune. Once again he had made a fool of himself in front of Booker and once again, his pride lay in tatters. It was becoming an unwelcome habit, and he ruefully wondered why the universe had decided to make him the butt of its jokes. Inching backward, he grabbed his comforter off the bed and quickly draped it around his naked body, covering his nakedness.…

A series of small waves pressed the sail boat against the alge dock as his cold and cracked hands desperately yanked on the rope in an effort to raise the sails. Dark clouds had moved in the night before and had stayed overnight providing a refreshing sprinkle of rain every now and then. He looked out over the vast plain of unsettled water and saw one individual white cap rise up among the rest only to be pushed back down. Due to the lack of sunlight the frigid water appeared black and lifeless but he knew that below it was a complex community of different species. He then bent over the side of the boat and reached for its securing ropes.…

I have found this crumpled piece of paper in one of the inner compartments of my jacket that I wore when the ship sunk thirteen years ago. We were only on the island for a month before two men were flying over in their helicopter and found us. They didn’t know where to find us before that since we were on uncharted land. The island is now a residential area named Seymore, after one of the men from the helicopter. Malai and I are married now (I’ve taken her last name) and have been for a while.…

With her phone not working, she had no one to consult over her fear, and so she sat trembling in silence in her seat. Her fear began to subside around seven o'clock, when the train was moving furiously through Virginia and her stomach began to growl. It had been several hours since the last sign of her stalker, and she had convinced herself he had boarded the train to leave the present for her and then departed. She passed through three other passenger cars before she reached the dining car, where she intended on ordering a cheeseburger.…

Around Antonius, frustrated men pounded their empty glasses on the table and cried for more alcohol, while tossing shouts across the room carelessly. Inwardly he cringed, wishing for the hundredth time he had picked a better meeting place, as an empty glass sailed inches away from his head and smashed onto the floor, shattering into thousands of small fragments. Most taverns drew in customers, but The Queen's Glass usually attracted the biggest, most violent, crowd. Especially on Sunday evenings. You just had to pick that one day out of the week when the tavern was full?…

My writing process is similar to the typical high schooler, except like the typical high schooler I have no idea what my process is. Having to slow down and think about your process before writing can be complicated due to the fact that I am thinking about what I doing naturally. Hopefully I will be able to fully break down my process and use what I learn from that to improve my writing. My process starts with me focusing on a prompt whether it’s given to me or I have to create one myself.…

In my high school writing was a little different than others. While most were in normal 9th and 10th grade English, I was in Read 180 and Century 21, which both of these classes aim more towards making us better readers not writers. Before my junior year my school changed things up a bit and made juniors and seniors picked what kind of English class they were interested in. In read180 once a week we had to read an article from the newspaper or a quote the teacher posted on the board; for the newspaper we had to write a six sentence paragraph of what it was about; the quote we had to say what it meant and why we think that or connect with it.…

If you were to ask me about my high school writing experience, I would tell you that I did not have much experience. We did not have any classes at my school that were specifically writing classes. At my high school, we just had regular English classes where we would occasionally do a few papers in. My English teacher senior year was a great person, but did not necessarily teach us a lot about proper styles of writing papers. Coming into college English, I did not feel well prepared with what to expect for a college level writing class.…

Walking along the gravel path in the woods makes you realize how intricate the clash between weather and nature can be. Two natural forces both in harmony and constantly fighting.
