Creative Writing: Green Face Masks

When she opens the door of the shower, steam rolls out and fills the rest of the room. As she steps out of the shower, she wraps herself in the soft material of her vibrant orange towel. She wipes off the foggy mirror and begins her nighttime routine. She gently washes her face to remove the oil and sweat that accumulated throughout the day. She then applies a creamy green face mask that reminds her of the aliens with rough, green skin she imagined when she was younger. As the face mask dries, she squeezes a dollop of toothpaste onto her bright blue toothbrush. The taste of the cool peppermint floods her mouth as the bubbles surround her taste buds. She spits out the white foam and gargles water to rinse her mouth. She smiles at herself in the mirror and laughs at the contrast of her white teeth and the dark green face mask. She looks at the frizzy and knotted mess cascading down her back, and rolls her eyes. She grabs her secret weapon, a baby blue bottle of leave-in conditioner that works wonders on her tangles. After spraying every inch of her curls, she is able to easily tackle her mane. She cringes at the snapping sound of each breaking strand. When she finishes, she pulls her hair into a tight braid.
