Creative Writing: Going Into High School

Going into highschool I was very nervous about things like how much homework i'll have and classes being difficult. Freshman year I had a fairly large group of “friends” and I got good grades for the most part, although Spanish and Algebra were a struggle. After awhile my “friends” suddenly changed and decided they didn't like me anymore so I left and found a new group of friends, and i'm still good friends with all of them today. Sophomore year of highschool i've been getting pretty good grades, although i'm still terrible at Spanish. It's been nearly two years since my first day of highschool and ive changed alot since then. I've both lost friends and made entirely new ones. I've lost some interest in hobbies like playing games and started …show more content…
“Her fur has really cool patterns on it, can we get her?” I asked. “Yea, we’ll head over there after school” he replied. After school we drove for about 30 minutes until we came to a little farmhouse on the side of the highway. “This is the place.” My dad said as we pulled in the driveway. There was a man and a woman standing near the house with the dog. She was a medium sized pitbull with thin black fur on her topside and then a white and black spotted pattern on her underside.
We got out of the truck and the dog ran over and started jumping all over excitedly. She had very soft fur. We talked to the couple who owned the dog and they said she just showed up in their yard one day so they fed her and she just stuck around for months so they figured she's a stray. After talking for awhile they said bye to the dog and we took her towards the truck. She seemed confused of who we were and she didn't want to get in the truck at all. Eventually though we convinced her enough and she hopped in. On the ride home she did good for awhile and then got carsick. We got her home eventually and we led her around the yard so she could get to know the area. Then we took her inside and she ran around excitedly jumping on the couch. We decided to name her

“Worthless Days”, the title alone suggest this short story could be about a lot of different things. When the story starts, the author starts with a question or a pun where the author ask “I wonder if I am the only one who suffers from worthless days”. Starting the story this way instantly makes the reader either agree or disagree with the author. This draws the reader in to wonder, “Where is this going?”, whether they agree or not with the initial sentence the curiosity settles in. As the first paragraph continues the author uses the words; “gas-guzzling, fresh-air-hogging, plant-consuming, water-sucking, free-loader”, the use of these words to describe the way they feel about themselves to over-exaggerate the way they feel about their worthless days.…

In many ways a dog can be your best friend, they are there for us in our worst times and our best times, they will be our biggest supporter, and they’ll always forgive you for getting angry at them when they made a mistake. There are those certain type of breeds in dogs that have a bad reputation for being aggressive, but what I believe is that it doesn’t matter what breed or gender of the dog, just as long as you love him or her they will unconditionally love us back. “Bob The Dog” was a very relatable narrative that presented someone else going through basically the equivalent to what I went through. Some people take advantage of dogs and just call them dogs, but I love dogs and I call them my family.…

If you were to ask me about my high school writing experience, I would tell you that I did not have much experience. We did not have any classes at my school that were specifically writing classes. At my high school, we just had regular English classes where we would occasionally do a few papers in. My English teacher senior year was a great person, but did not necessarily teach us a lot about proper styles of writing papers. Coming into college English, I did not feel well prepared with what to expect for a college level writing class.…
