“Hey, you busy?”
Brandon opened his eyes and put his hand on his forehead to blocck the sun. Standing at the field behind him stood a black teenager. Although he appeared young in the face, he was built like a grown man. Between his chiseled abs, his defined chest, …show more content…
It’s kinda complicated. Anyways I gotta go. Thanks for the help.”
Just like that he took his stopwatch back and jogged away, leaving just as quickly as he had appeared. Brandon stood there a few seconds longer, baffled at Chris’ reaction and sudden departure following that question. He couldn’t help but be intrigued by this quick tempered black kid he had just met in a secluded field, working out by himself. Fort Iron was predominantly white and the few black people that lived there stuck out like sore thumbs. Brandon put his head down in hopes that he would get the hint and just walk away, but it proved futile. “You gonna just sit there and ignore me boy?” Melvin saw the scene unfolding from behind the bar and decided it was time to intervene.
“That’s enough Bo, lay off him.”
“Don’t defend this little prick, you saw firsthand the heartache he caused all of us”, Bo replied.
“Alright, I think it’s time you went home now Bo.”
“You kidding me Melvin, with all the money I spend in this place you’re kicking me out and letting this asshole stay?”
“I’m not gonna ask you again Bo.”
“Never thought I’d see the day”, Bo replied as he grabbed his jacket and left.
Melvin turned his attention to Brandon. “Why you letting him talk down to you like that?” Melvin asked Brandon baffled at the sight of him just sitting there silent as Bo verbally abused
