Then there was a thump in the attic
“What was that?” he asked heading up stairs to the attic
“it was probably my son” i responded hesitantly trying to think up an excuse
“It better be. if your lying to me it's not going to end well“
As he Went up stairs he grabbed the old lantern and lit it up and searched high and low every minute he was up there the more nervous he was finally after a half an hour of thumping from the boots he was wearing stopped then it was silence the footsteps were twice as loud.

I didn't want to tell him about what happened to my wife or about why i really joined the army again i wanted to remain a low profile until i found david and then i would finish this. I was in the middle of shooting my next shot when a ladder appeared in front of me and people were climbing on it i aimed my next shot at the ladder and blew it up .at that point i was out of shots and ran back to my rifle on the next ladder that appeared and there he was david appeared over the edge there it was just me and him we drew our rifles and just like that we shot. And there was silence but i could still see my ears were ringing my arm was numb. And just like that the enemies were leaving david was dead laying on the floor. I want to reach for his rifle. And realized that i was bleeding out of my right arm thankfully i didn't feel the pain because of how numb my arm
