Ela story Global warming The birds were chirping, and the trees were singing as the dreadful winter had come to an end in the community of Alpharetta, Georgia. The fluffy clouds represented cotton candy making Alpharetta look, only more welcoming. It was the end of January, and the beginning of February, the season of love. The pleasant sun shone down rays of happiness, bringing life to everyone, and everything. The winter had come to an abrupt stop, but no one was complaining. Unfortunately, that meant school for Sid Dasighencekid. Bridge Webb middle school’s schedule had a season based schedule, opening in the spring and summer, closing in the fall and winter. He was forced to wake up against his will. He dragged himself, got ready, and groaned as he …show more content…
“Now that doesn’t mean I’m against children in Africa, it’s just that there are so many more important issues to be concerned about,” continued Sid “For example disputes between other nations or even global warming
“Global warming?” laughed Will. “I thought you were being serious.”
“What do you mean?” asked a very confused Sid.
Will responded, “I mean that global warming isn’t a real phenomenon. Even our new president, Tronald Dump, quotes that it is a ‘hoax created by China’. Do you really think that global warming is legitimate?”
“Well then how do you explain the year 2016 being the warmest year and being the third year in a row to set a new record for global average surface temperatures (“Climate change: How do we know?”)? How do you explain it being so warm in the middle of the winter which is normally from November to March (“Weather in Georgia”), and us having to go to school?”
“Um” Will hesitated “Coincidence?”
“Honestly Will, I can’t deal with you sometimes” stated Sid, his face, red as a tomato with anger as he stormed away to his next class.

Sid got down from the bus, still a little irritated with the way Will had acted.
“Hi Honey. How was your day at school?” Greeted Sid’s

Joseph F. C. DiMento and Pamela Doughman’s introduction to “Making Climate Change Understandable” presents an argument for climate change that denies frequent deliberate intervention with the climate by the human population but rather supports the accidental change in climate. The authors also claim that because climate change is so difficult to understand, people do not recognize it as a grave issue. Early in the text, DiMento and Doughman clearly state the purpose of the article as follows, to “explore changes in climate…address how the changes affect us…and explain what is being done to manage the changes” (DiMento 1). Although, they seem to struggle refuting arguments made by their opponents and use vague words throughout the text, the authors utilize evidence, argumentation and writing tactics to ultimately communicate their ideas.…

Imagine a barren wasteland, incapable of supporting the growth of any form of life and overpopulated with more people than it could sustain: this is the future of the earth. But, this is not just another scene from a sci-fi film of a population that has expedited their vital resources, but the reality for the “over 7 billion people” who populate the home we call earth (Hardaway 4). A considerable amount of blame is placed on global warming which is an “increase in the temperature of the lower atmosphere“; however, global warming has not garnered enough acceptance from some political officials and skeptics due to the term’s ambiguity (“global warming”). Global warming is often confused with climate change and although these terms sound alike…

He provides evidence from a child saying, “I worry about [global warming] because I don’t want to die.” Children were shown documentary films about global warming and now they fear global warming. Inhofe argues that children shouldn’t be shown DiCaprio’s or Gore’s “horror films” because they receive the wrong message.…

Over the past few years, the subject of climate change has been heavily discussed in the media, scientific research articles, and literature. In 2011, Richard Bean published his play “The Heretic,” which deals with the controversial topic of anthropogenic climate change. According to the dictionary by Oxford University Press (2016), anthropogenic means “originating in human activity”. He initiates his play by a claim made in 2007 by Al Gore, the former Vice President of the United States. Speaking to the House Energy committee and the Senate Environment committee, he stated that “The science is settled” (Seabrook: 2007).…
