Ted's wishes By jacob Kothe

When it comes to driving a stick shift manual car, you can get a little stressed out. What I mean by that when you're driving around the neighborhood with your instructor (my dad) he makes you turn, a lot stop on hills, and insures that you stop at a stop sign, when you think that he insures that you stop at stop signs you think of something else. You have to go up to the sign and push down on the clutch. And stop at the sign press down the gas and slowly let off the clutch. You would think that's pretty easy, but if you overload the transmission, then your car dies, you have to start it back up and if you you let of the clutch off to fast the car starts bouncing and won't stop bouncing so you just keep bouncing. That might seem fun, but after a while it's no longer fun. So I was driving my car and the stop light turned green so I started to go and it stalled out I'm sitting there trying to find out what's wrong with my car and it wouldn't

“Sorry sir the plate number that you gave do not exist.” “wh-what” I stuttered. I hung up, maybe my Father knows what's happening,I thought I started to look for my father while calling out Father. I found my mother,
¨Do you know where Father is?¨
¨Dad's out in the garage working on his car.¨

My instinct urged me that I cannot do it. Taking a moment to reflect on the journey, I had overcome my fear of failure. Thinking of all the positive accomplishments I have made, in return of making the experience positive. While waiting I so happen to lose track of time until I hear the car door open and to hear the words “I want you to drive to the end of the street, reverse all the way back here, and do the parallel parking before we proceed onto the road test”. As I approach the parallel parking bay, I think to myself, it is best to get it over with rather than to drag it out any further.…

Despite decades of public service announcements about the dangers of speeding, the problem is alive and well today. A common reason for this is that it's easy to do and doesn't feel dangerous. Cars have powerful engines and have very smooth and quiet rides. When sitting on comfortable upholstery and surrounded by music, it's easy to forget that a wrong movement of the hand on the steering wheel can kill the occupants of the car. People also speed because of attitudes shaped by common myths.…

My sweaty hands were locked into the steering wheel for the first five minutes driving. I started to feel sweat from the side of my head, and cold at the same time. Although I was still in my neighborhood, the thought of crashing was still in my head. I thought I was only going to drive away from traffic, which wasn’t as intimidating as driving out in the city. Five minutes into driving my mom suggested for us to drive around traffic.…

Being part of the generation who grew up watching Fast and the Furious films has always made me want to drive a car. At that time I knew I still had a while before I could drive, but any chance I got to be in the driver seat I would. My first time I ever got behind the wheel was right after I watch the fast and the furious in 2001. It was during the summer, my mom was washing her car and according to her “I accidently locked myself inside and somehow I managed to turn the car on and started backing up the car.” My mom was so scared she started yelling “put the car on park” “put the car on park” but I had no clue what she meant.…
