Getting down on one knee, to get closer to the fairy standing on the dresser he picked up the magnifying glass so he could examine the wing. Looking back at Mel he asked, “Did I mention I played the French horn.” “I was never very good,” he continued. “And I could not march in a straight line.” Touching the wing, he pulls it open about half way. “Am I hurting you?” he asked Addy. “It’s not a real bad pain, but I can feel it,” she said. “Got an Idea,” the doctor said as he stood up taking this cell phone from the pouch on his belt. Thumbing through the index list, he pushed a button, then began to talk as he put it to his ear. “Pete, I need you and your portable x-ray machine in room 382 twenty minutes ago.” Both doctors …show more content…
“She can’t tell you anything about fairyland,” Mel butted in, “She is sworn to secrecy." "She could get in trouble is she does.” "But let me tell you what happened to me yesterday after I found Addy in our neighbor's yard," Mel said as she moved to stand between the bed and the dresser. Telling them about the person she first thought was a boy, was a small man. “He had on brown shoes with silver buckles, long green socks and khaki knickers and shirt.” “Did he have a green neckerchief?” Dr. Reams asked. “Yes, he did,” Mel replied.” “The first time it was around his neck the next time it was in his back pocket.” “Scoundrels are what they are called in Ireland.” Dr. Reams said. “They are an undesirable bunch who try to get rich playing off the hard work of others.” “There is something mysterious about their bandana or the neckerchief they wear.” “Nobody body knows for sure what power it carries, but with our it, they are a helpless bunch of bums. After two quick and loud knocks on the door, it flew open, in came a tall man in a blue nurse's uniform. “Can I come in?” he asked as he backed into the room pulling the portable x-ray machine. “Glad you’re here,” Dr. Mac said, holding the door open. …show more content…
Grabbing her case, Joyce, Mel, and her mother walked out of the room and out of the building. Once outside grandmom reached into her pocket, lifted Addy out and putting her on Mel’s shoulder. Arriving home in the middle of the afternoon, they decided to just have a snack, and for dinner, they will order Chinese food. “Is there anything you would like to have for a snack?” grandmom asked the fairy. “Not really,” the little one replied. “But I enjoyed the spaghetti we had last night.”“ I thought I saw you slip food out of the kitchen last night.” grandmom said looking at Mel. “We just happen to have some left, and I put it in the freezer to save we‘ll get it out and warm it up.” “I will take some too,” Mel said. “If there is enough, we will all four have some.” Joyce said as she opened the door and got the bowl from the freezer.” “I didn’t know you believed in fairies and stuff like that grandmom,” Mel said as she sat on a stool next to the kitchen counter. “Ho, yes,” grandmom said. “Ever since I was a little girl, smaller than you.” she continued. “ Getting up from her chair she continued, “It’s been a long and exciting day for me. So I need to take my beauty nap.” Stopping just before she went out the door into the hall, she turned to Joyce and Mel. With a serious look on her face, she said, "This is a big old house for one old lady." “It has four

"You pursue the negative," Willie-Jay had informed him once, in one of his lectures. "You want not to give a damn, to exist without responsibility, without faith or friends or warmth.” (Capote 45) (4) Capote uses direct characterization to give the reader insight of Perry through another character's perspective. This is a recurring motif for the character of Perry, he has never been married and always distances himself from most other people. This insight shows Perry’s poor mental health because he rejects the possibility to love others and find “warmth”.…
