Creative Writing: Deadman's Paradise

There is an eerie, small town that seems to have come straight out of a horror story. This horrific town known as Deadman’s Paradise is always gloomy, sullen in the same way grim. It’s as if this town has never been visited by the sun. The only sources of outside light in the entire town are street lamps that constantly flicker. Most of the town residents stay inside their whole life besides occasional trips to the local grocery store. Any travelers passing by this town are given the impression that it is a deserted and sinister ghost town. The residents of this town are mostly normal but there seems to be a mysterious phenomenon that affects a few people every month. They all looked mangled and as if they're barely hanging together. Each one has a potato sack for a head with dark sunken eyes and a grim smile made out of stitches. Also they had hands with long strands of hay that resembled the long talons of a crow. All of these scarecrows reeked of pure evil and Dominique could feel the unnatural essence of them. The strange atmosphere of this mansion had frightened him so much that he decided to turn around and go to the police to ask for help. As soon as he turned around there was a faint cry that was undoubtedly Maddy’s voice. Picking up on this faint sound made the hairs on the back of his neck stand up. Whipping his head around he looked into the house with his flashlight along with wide open eyes gazing into the house. Out of the corner of his eye appeared Maddy tied up as if she was a scarecrow. Immediately after seeing this he bursted towards the door busting it open with his shoulder dropped as if it was an opponent in football. Adrenaline was running through the body faster than an Olympic sprinter running the 100 meter. Scurrying up the stairs, bashing in all the doors looking for Maddy. She heard all these mayhem and cried out as loud as she could for Dominique. Following the sound of her distressed voice he finally found the right room. Seeing this brought tears to his eyes. He picked her head up and whispered to her, “Baby I’m home…” She looked at him with disbelief, “Thank god I’m so glad to see you! I thought you died!” Responding to her in a quivering voice, “I thought I was dead too but I escaped certain death just so to see you again.” She smiled through her tears and uttered the words, “I think we need to move because I now hate this place now haha.” Dom chuckled then declared, “I totally agree with
