Bloodied Snow of the Fallen October 10th, 1943 , near the forest off of a Nazi controlled town of Warsaw...it should have been easy...
Life, such a fickle thing to live with, sometimes it goes well and others...this time, it went terribly wrong. The cold October night was a beautiful sight to see, stars peppered the sky as the moon’s light bathed the forest. I felt a cold shiver go through my body as I slumped against a tree, holding my abdomen in pain, wondering if this was it, if my life was finally over...sadly...I almost wished it was. That was the last thing I remembered of that night before waking up in a partisan camp, in a cot inside a tent. The first face to greet me was him, Ben, he’d

Thus we can only take what we scavenge, so if that means killing a few Germans for the supplies, we must do it.” Ben seemed concerned and stressed,
“Sir, civilians would die on such a fools errand! The Germans have enough firepower to wipe this entire camp- along with Warsaw- off the face of the Earth!” The captain stood up with a scowl, “Are you questioning my orders boy? Just for the simple act, I should have you executed for mutiny and insubordination!” This is where I knew Ben was in trouble and stepped in, “Sir! He knows not what he speaks of. I say that we may only delay such a head on battle until our reinforcements and supplies get here.” The captain and Ben stared each other down, rage and anger in both their eyes.
“Fine...now, go rest up, we need you on patrol tonight...we hear that the Germans expect their own reinforcements to arrive...especially...the SS battalion…” Ben and I looked to each other with grim faces, the Germans ever sent the SS to take care of the Jews “personally” on their leaders behalf...Ben’s family was in

We fight against the Germans through Hell or High water, we don’t wait like cattle ready for the slaughter, or like Eagles who wait to kill their prey, we are wolves, hunters, protectors-” I slammed my book shut loudly and looked into his eyes with a cold stare,
“We...are soldiers...not revolutionaries...we quietly wait for our chance to strike, yes, but that doesn’t mean we like it. We protect those who can’t protect themselves...and we save what we can, we fight the war if only to save as many as we can, we keep our soldiers alive no matter what. That is what the partisans are...and if you want to go ahead and barge into Berlin, guns ablaze, be my guest. But I can’t promise your body will be whole…” With that, I put on my coat and scarf. “Where are you going?” Ben asked, looking towards the entrance where I stood.
“I’m going out to patrol, when you’ve finished with your little temper tantrum, feel free to join.” I walked out into the cold winter night, the sky was brilliant with the light of the sky, the stars shone, the moon lit the world, but the trees of the forest, they made it all looked cracked and shattered, broken. I was lost in thought until I heard a twig crack, footsteps

Our soldiers had their heads held high and they were all so excited for the battle, but the first experience of trench warfare had brought horror upon all of us. The first sight of the trenches showed that they were in the worst conditions and didn’t give privacy. The officers had told us that these “ditches” were going to remain as our homes for the rest of the war. These “worse” conditions were proved as we remained in the trenches for numerous days. July-Day 18 I can barely pull myself out of bed today, it's cold outside the blankets that have kept me safe since my descent to dreamland where I have been since 6:30 PM. I've slept for 12 hours and I want to keep sleeping. I want to stay in bed where nothing happens to any extremes. I dreamt of lighthouses and the light it casts out over the clear blue gulf sending a signal of safety to those passing by. I wonder about all the things that are like lighthouses to me.…

Dehumanization is the process by which a person is stripped of the qualities that make them human, such as their identity and sentimental values. The process of dehumanization will commonly result in the loss of determination, hope, and happiness, concluding in a loss of the will to live. The autobiographical work of Elie Wiesel, Night, showcases Wiesel in the era of the Holocaust when Nazis commonly used the process of dehumanization in order to easily kill off Jews and other minority groups in large amounts. Night revolves around what the Nazis have done to Wiesel, dehumanizing him even though he is determined enough to escape Auschwitz with whatever dignity remains. Throughout the story, dehumanization massively affects not only Elie but…

There was no blood dripping from their lifeless bodies.…

(not all of the soldiers want to kill and exterminate the Jews) In the book, Elie Wiesel describes how some of the german guards were more “humane” than some of the jews that were given power, who abused their authority. He also mentions how the Jews would turn into complete savages and animals when they fought over bread that was given to them. In one part of the book (while in the cattle carts transporting them to a concentration camp) in the midst of over fifty people fighting over a few pieces of bread in a small train cart, Elie Wiesel (who is only 16 at the time) witnesses this guy who beats and kills his own father (who is an old man) over a just crust of bread.
