Russell couldn’t believe what he was seeing. If he did this and got accepted, he could finally go back to Earth and maybe see his parents again. He took one of the sheets and walked the rest of the way home at a much faster pace than before. As he reached his house, he decided to keep the paper to himself. He set the eggs on the counter and went up to his room. Russell kept it to himself for the same reason that him and his uncle didn’t get along. About 4 years before this, there had been a way to contact members of your family or even friends back on Earth. The government had created a system that shot messages out …show more content…
What’s really happening?” Russell replied. Both his aunt and uncle looked at each other, and then his aunt nodded. He knew he was about to be told something that was most likely bad. “Russell, I know this is going to be hard to understand,” his aunt started, “but we aren’t just going on a little trip. This huge rocket we are on isn’t taking us to the moon for a visit. It’s taking us to Mars. We are going to be staying there for a long time.” “Why?” he asked. “Well, there’s something happening back on Earth. You know how scientists believe dinosaurs became extinct, right?” she replied. “Yeah,” Russell said questioning why she was bringing up dinosaurs. “Scientists have found a similar sized meteor coming towards Earth. They fear it could do the same to humans. That’s why we’re going away.” his aunt said. “What’s happening to my parents then?” Russell asked. She shook her head. “We aren’t sure.” He suddenly woke up from his dream. He looked over at his alarm clock. It was only 4:30. He still had over two hours to sleep but he knew he wouldn’t. When ever he had that dream, he never fell back asleep. All he could think about where his parents were …show more content…
After school was over and he got of the bus, he went up to his room and took out the sheet of paper he had gotten the day before. That morning, he had emailed the GM about it and he was hoping they had replied. Russell opened up his laptop and saw a “1” in his inbox. It was them. He opened the email and read it to himself.
Regarding the email you sent to us earlier today, if you would like to be considered for the mission, you will have to show up at the GM Warehouse in the center of the city. The training and testing starts on March 19th on Monday at 4:00 and the final three will be chosen on Friday, March 23rd. There are no sign ups, because all you have to do is show up. Thanks for considering.
He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. He didn’t even have to sign up and he could have the chance to go back to Earth. There were a few issues with it though. He had no way of actually getting to the center of the city, unless he took his bike to school. Also, he would have to figure out a way to tell his uncle he had something going on after school on those days so he wouldn’t get worried or suspicious. Within a second the perfect idea came into his
