I am talking to mom about being ready to go to school on time in the morning.
“Ben, did you make Kayla late for school?” Mom asked.
“Yes, he did,” My sister, Kayla replied.
“No I didn’t!” I exclaimed.
“I think it counts as late if I have to run up to the stair in the morning because I had to drop you off at the middle school for your AP class,” Kayla said.
“You don’t run up the stairs in the morning,” I said.
“How do you know?” Kayla questioned.
“Because, we may leave later than you want, but we have never been late. We have never gotten marked late and had to go get a pass. So technically we have never been late,” I replied.
“I don’t wanna get to school at 7:42,” Kayla said.
“It’s still not late,” I replied as I chuckled.
“Ben! It’s not funny. You need to be ready earlier than that. You can’t show up to school right as it about to start,” Mom stated.

“It doesn’t matter. You can’t live your life doing things at the last second. You need some buffer time and if that means getting up earlier, than that’s what we have to do,” Mom commanded.
“Ugh, oh my gosh, I can’t even do that. Getting up early is literally the death of me. I hate getting up early,” I complained.
“Well that’s just a part of life. Everyone has to get up early. I do it, Kayla does it, everyone does. You just have to do it,” Mom stated.
Kayla leaves the room.
“When I’m in college, I’m scheduling my earliest class at like 10

Kids in middle school and in high school think that they are exhausted because they wake up to go to school, but the one reason why they are exhausted in the mornings is because they don't get enough sleep. In the passage "Keep Start Times as They Are," by unknown author, I agree that the times should stay the same because if the times change then the kids will go to sleep later because school will start later. First of all, kids who go to sleep a liitle late will be tired in the morning because they have to go to school. The unknown author states,"They will have to go to sleep earlier if they are forced to wake up earlier," (1).…

Recent studies show that students who wake up at times different than their “natural sleep clocks” have an easier time adjusting to the times they’ll have to wake up at when they start to work. When students don’t go directly to college they go into the workforce, meaning they will need to be awake and prepared at a different time. Schools should not start or end later to accommodate student’s “natural sleep clocks” due to the fact that before and after school some students need to take care of younger siblings as well as other students who may go to work. Firstly, teenagers often have younger siblings that need to be helped to get ready early in the morning for school and help them after school.…

We have all had one of those days. At 6:30 sharp, your alarm rings incessantly for you to drag yourself out of bed, get your clothes on, and get out bright and early for the bus to go to school. Then, you must find the willpower to stay awake in your morning classes, tests and homework included, until the lunch bell rings. This all happens because of the common school start time of around 7:50, but for some reason many schools, especially middle and high schools, are thinking of bringing this time to 7:15, leaving even less and less time for students to get ready. There may be some reasons why schools may want this, but the negative effects of this decision are undeniable.…

A national sleep foundation poll found that 59% of 6th through 8th graders, as well as 87% of high schoolers, are getting less than the recommended amount of sleep on school nights. This often affects how attentive kids are when they get to school and can have a negative impact on the rest of their day. When students are tired they often don't take in the information they would otherwise pick up with an adequate amount of sleep. Starting classes at middle school and high schools no earlier than 8:30 a.m. would help teens arrive alert, healthy and ready to learn, U.S. sleep medicine specialists say (Lehman, 2017). Schools should start later to ensure the success of its students.…
