Creative Writing: All Quiet On The Western Front

It was October 5th, 1945. The war had just begun. Dust was flying all over the area, making it hard to see for the soldiers. Bombs were flying, no one knew where to go, everyone yelling, stay down, stay under cover. Soldiers losing their friends hoping to get out alive with loved ones worrying at home. Every troop heading out of the war zone, knowing that they left the friends and sometimes loved one gasping for their last breath of cold dusty air. All you could see after the wind had died down was the old boots that fell off the wounded fighters. Soldiers going around searching throughout the debris and through the bodies that were once fighting for our country. Joe started to explain to his friend what had happened. I was sitting there waiting for the enemy to attack when I heard someone calling my name. I thought it was you but when I turned around to say something, a guy took his gun and hit me in the back of the head. Joe was just finishing up when the second round of bombs came. Joe tried to look for his boot, but they were in such a hurry that he couldn’t find it. After a while he gave up. Finally, Joe and his friend started to look for shelter. There was dust flying everywhere,so they couldn’t tell what way they were headed. They started to hear people yelling, Joe had thought it was the rest of their team, sadly it was not. They had walked right into enemy fire. The enemies started firing at them, but Joe and his friend did not have any weapons to fight with. Joe and his friend got trapped in the corner, guns pointing at them from every angle. When suddenly the enemies started shooting. The commander of Joe’s unit found the bodies of Joe and the other soldier. The commander had seen that Joe’s last boot had finally fallen off. He took their tags and started running back to the base where he meet up with the rest of the
