As I felt the cold air from my sheets hit my legs, I slowly started to zone out in my bed. Slowly, slowly, slowly my eyes closed, and my body relaxed. Suddenly there was a BANG! My eyes shot open! I heard someone coming up the stairs. It must be mom and dad, I thought. My room door opened. Now they must be checking on me, they must have heard that noise too. I started to relax and then I heard a whispered voice.
“Haaaaaah, haaaah, haaaah.” It was right by my closet. I realized it was breathing. It must have been the person that ran upstairs. They were out of breath. I gave myself the this-is-life-or-death montage in my head. I listened carefully to see if the person moved. …show more content…
It was the breathing, this time louder, and more distinct. It was male with a deep voice.His head was hovering right there, right in my face. Just slowly reach for the lamp, turn it on, and sock this guy, I thought to myself. NO WAIT! He would see me, I thought correcting myself. At that moment I remembered that my digital clock was dimmed. That was an easier target considering it was right next to me on the night stand. All I had to do was turn the brightness up with the touch of a button. I slowly moved my hand in my bed toward the nightstand not knowing where he was now. I didn’t hear the breathing as loud. He must have finally relaxed. I opened my eyes slightly to find him standing up looking down at me. Don’t reach for it you can see him I told myself. I moved my leg to I kick position. I realized my life was on the line. So, I went for it! I took a deep breath and karate kicked him as hard as I could. He bent over with a grunt and I kneed him in the chin knocking him out. I went over and examined the unconscious body. He was wearing a mask! He was a robber! A thief! A burglar! I took the mask off just to see his face. There was no way this guy got passed my dad unarmed, he has to have his pals with him. That’s when I realized, the rest of the family was quiet. Were they still asleep? After all that? I rushed my fingers through my hair, blinked twice, and clenched my fist. What are you going to do now Alex? Things were bad….. suddenly there
