“He’s never learned when to keep his mouth shut,” Samuel states, before turning to me. “I heard you saved Victor’s and my boy’s life.”
“News travels fast.”
“Not really. I just ran into Victor. That poor boy couldn’t lie to save his life. One day, we’ll fix that.”
“But I’m guessing you’re not here to thank me,” I growl.
“You’re not as dumb as you look,” he states. “I’m here asking why you were there.”
“Oh, just looking over last night’s footage where I was wandering around, jumping from cliff to cliff and…oh yeah overhearing some very interesting conversions,” I answer, telling the truth. There’s no point in lying. I flash a smile up at him as I stand up, catching the ball in mid-air. “If you are going to threaten to kill me, then at least

Do I really look that young?
I don’t think so. Neither am I little, not for a girl that is. I’m five’ eight.
I take a bold step forward, unafraid of him. He takes the tiniest step back and that’s when I realize he’s scared of me. He may not show it or even know, but a part of him is scared of what I am. A demon, he can’t control or put down. It’s what most people who have power are afraid of. They’re afraid of people, they can’t control or stop. “I am not a little girl…Hell, I’m not even human anymore,” I state.
“That sound extremely close to a threat.”
“Just a warning and I am not the one going around threatening people when they’re scared.”
Samuel’s face tightens in rage and he’s about to explode when a loud groan interrupts our conversion. The tension in the air eases as my attention turns to Jensen, who is slowly stirring. He sluggishly scrambles to his feet, red in the face and dried blood on the side of his cheek.
“You hit me!” he exclaims in angry disbelief. He freezes when he spots his

“At least you would have died human!”
I stop, stepping back and shaking my head. My heart swallows.
I should have known better. He doesn’t care about me, not even as a friend because I’m a demon. He’s like everyone else, looking at what you are, not who you are. I know I use to think like that, but not anymore and I thought he believed the same. I guess not.
“There it is. That didn’t take long,” I growl, brushing away my shock. “Though, it’s not surprising. I am a demon after all, everyone is meant to hate me. I guess that includes you. I’m a monster. I hurt innocent people right? Why wouldn’t people hate me? I just thought…thought you were different, but I guess not.”
Jensen’s face drops in regret after realizing what I said. Guilt washes over his face and he opens his mouth, but I don’t want to hear it. There’s nothing left to say that won’t hurt.
I race out of the room, heading for the cliffs where no one can get to me. I don’t want to be talked to or be around anyone. They’ll just judge me and hate me.
I hear him call out my name. I don’t respond. It’s too late. I’ve already disappeared out of the

Telling the truth all the time is nearly infeasible. Stephanie Ericsson’s essay titled, “The Ways We Lie” breaks down the activity of lying into subcategories of the different kinds of lies we tell on a daily basis. In addition, Ericsson’s essay manages to point out the elemental role that lying plays in our lives and our culture. We all lie, whether to abstain from confrontation, spare people’s feelings, conveniently forget, keep secrets, or even to justify our own words and actions. By clarifying the extent into which we all lie, Ericsson insinuates an abundance of ways in which we fib, by listing and describing each lie in its natural element.…

As I continued singing while weaving thread that formed a silk fabric, I heard footsteps of men approaching. My dear wolves and lions lifted their heads to the movement of the sound. Calling Julie had not been in my plan. I avoided contacting her for her own protection, I did not wish to put her on the radar of the MiBs, if she wasn't already, still, I felt as if I owed her.
