Creative Writing: A Beautiful Colonial Home

Decent Essays
I was looking through my old year books and I decided to write you a letter because I haven’t caught up with you since you adopted your twins from Ethiopia. Daniel and I recently moved into a beautiful colonial home in upstate New York. There is a big, beautiful, backyard with a beautiful, blooming garden. I have herbs, vegetables, and beautiful, blooming, bodacious budding blooms that make bold, breath taking, center pieces. On breezy summer days it is almost as though my garden is dancing in the warm winds. I have three cats named Athos, Aramis, and Porthos. Who have such a great connection watching them is so interesting because it’s almost as though they would die for each other. Jamie has recently just been in is second grade show about

I would love to have dinner with George Washington because I want to hear about all of these accomplishments and how it was like being the very first president of the United States. George Washington was the last soldier standing out of 86 soldiers. He was also the only surviving soldier of the militia army. There seems to be a story that described him as “bullet proof president”, and that is what interests me into meeting Mr. Washington. During his lifetime was called “father of his country.”…

The earth beneath their feet had long since morphed into oozing, black mud that sucked at their feet and legs. The pounding of artillery shells, the booming of massive guns, the sharp crack of rifles, and the smell of gunpowder were without pause. Blood-splattered bodies were sprawled on the trenches. The screams of agony and the earth-shattering crashes of shells would be enough to drive even the most stalwart to insanity.…

“Wait… I was under the impression that all infected areas been quarantined at this point,” Governor Lewis proclaimed. Everyone at the table kept their mouths shut, as they felt an intensity that would soon escalate into power struggle steadily increasing. “Governor!” Hanes said, sternly as he raised his voice back at Lewis while pounding his fist on the conference table. “This sickness has covered two major cities, several states, scores of counties, and a myriad of townships and municipalities throughout the northeastern corridor in less than a week.…

I am sure you have received various postcards and letters from me before. I am currently writing this while I hide from the Germans in our dug out. I am fine. Unfortunately, I cannot tell you about the ongoing events because letters are going to be censored, as they are very strict. Germans are constantly shelling us, sometimes during the day, and sometimes during the night.…

On Monday night about 8 o'clock, I reached the guard, about 100 people passed it and went towards the custom house where the king's money is lodged. They immediately surrounded the sentry posted there, and with clubs and other weapons threatened to execute their vengeance on him. I was soon informed by a townsman their intention was to carry off the soldier from his post and murder him. I immediately sent a non-commissioned officer and 12 men to protect both the sentry and the king's money, and very soon followed myself to prevent, if possible, all disorder. Nay, so far was I from intending the death of any person that I suffered the troops to go to the spot where the unhappy affair took place without any loading in their pieces; nor did I ever give orders for loading them.…

I only watched helplessly as the turquoise vase wobbled off of its shelf, seemingly falling in slow motion until it hit the cold stone, erupting in a firework of glass. He swiveled his head around, eyes widened, pale face, and trembling hands. My hands automatically went up to clasp my mouth, muffling a scream that never came out. He looked at me, and I looked at him. I looked at him, and he looked at me.…

I'm miserable. I have not recorded anything for a time, despite making an attempt to avoid wasting what is left of my time in this wretched trench. Some nights back a cloudburst happened which left both sides basically fallen. As luck would have it did not hurt anyone but creating it very difficult to fight. Nowadays I think of these trenches as holding cells for prisoners, the site I am guaranteed to spend the remaining months of my life in until i am eventually exhausted and then we are killed like some pack of mice in laboratory experimentation.…

The droning of Panzer engines filled the air above the blackened battlefield of Vladivostok. The smell of cordite filled the night sky as plumes of grey smoke and dust mingled in the cold night air, drifting in between the copses of trees as if searching for a way off the battlefield. Our metal beast rolled through water and mud like a ship – clumsy, laborious and burdened, pitching and rolling in the holes and ruts of the sea of mud and snow, which was overflowing with the decaying bodies of Russian soldiers. The putrid smells of rotten flesh and diesel fumes were gut wrenching, necessitating the use of a flannelette cloth to cover the nostrils and our parched mouths. Through my viewing port, my dull coloured eyes narrowed at the sight of…

It was a quiet Friday at Henry’s. There were only five customers scattered around the restaurant. There was elderly couple at one of the booths quietly eating their food, two younger men at the bar chatting about their plans for the night; and one man sitting near the window and reading the local tabloids. Both George and Lennie were, in the back of the restaurant, working. George was cleaning dishes, while Lennie was trying his best to mop.…

To all of my grandchildren living with your parents, I am writing to you to inform you on how the world use to be like back when I was your age. There were both good and bad things going on, often or not they were bad. The world was not what it is like today and when I am gone I hope you never live through what I had to. The constant threat of terrorist attacks and nuclear war looming over us. Even the good still overweighed the bad in some ways.…

Wind bustled through the branches of the trees, making the leaves howl in their symphony. Walking along the gravel path in the woods makes you realize how intricate the clash between weather and nature can be. Two natural forces both in harmony and constantly fighting.
