Through the activity, I realized how silly it was to work against my usual steps based methodology in order to create a creative collage. My initial intention of going without a plan was to not limit myself within the boundaries of an outline so that I can freely decide on materials that I think would fit in my collage. This resulted in me just blindly looking for images that would represent MediaCorp but do not portray the lack of creativity in the industry.

Reflecting on it, I could have used the systematic approach in a way that would not limit my material gathering. Creativity is an abstract topic and to represent it in a collage would be difficult. By brain storming and coming up with a plan on how to represent the topic, I could

It was equally hard trying to decide how to actually represent the idea of creativity in my collage. While I was cracking my head, a trip in the MRT actually enlightened me on how I should do it. There was a fun fact displayed in the train saying that fewer people dreamed in black and white after the introduction colour televisions. An idea struck me in that I could use black and white to be the colour dominating the side portraying MediaCorp showing how out-dated and boring they have become.

Creativity is not only based off an individual, it can also be sparked by external environment and stimulus. Similarly, the organization culture of a company can encourage creativity. The clan and adhocracy cultures value flexibility, giving employees autonomy in their work. This allows them to take initiative and come up with creative ideas and solutions.

Another obstacle that I encountered was that I was too engrossed in making the collage perfect. I was careful not to make any mistakes but that inhibited my ability to experiment with different arrangement of the images and materials to get a better combination. The collage was completed but I was not satisfied with it. Intending to start over, I experimented on the draft that I made by rearranging and pasting cut outs over the completed areas. At first it looked messy but the more I worked on it, the better things started to look. In the end, the draft that I was thinking of discarding
