I also think it is very important that there is a good balance of adult-led and child-led activities as both play a very big part in children’s learning. Adult-led activities can enhance children’s learning further as many questions may be asked in order to challenge the children but during child-led play the children are able to learn at their own…
The passages I have just read are about children and how people believe their time is better spent. One is for creative play time and the other is more set towards orginized activities. I believe there should be a mix between the two, not just one in particular; but we'll get to that later in my essay. In the passage "Helping Children Play Creatively" it points out that in todays society children's time is over filled with structured activity. While sports, clubs, and music are all great activities, it does not give the child time to be as creative.…
Children that find it hard to express themselves tend to burst out of frustration and irritation due to them unable to communicate. Imagine that you moved to a foreign country and nobody speaks your language eventually you'd become very frustrated and lonely because you would'nt know how to communicate with others. This is how your child would feel. This is why it is important that you let your child's imagination run free, but there are some that would disagree. There are people that say it is more beneficial for the parents to schedule structure play.…
I support organized activities they are structured, and can also be fun. It can teach children the value of being on time, to accomplish their goals, and can also meet some cool people along the way. Open-ended play allows children to express themselves in play freely and creatively, not bound by pre-set limitations. Playing with open-ended materials with multiple uses and limitless possibilities, allow for imaginative play. There are no rules to follow, no expectations, no specific problems to solve, and no pressure to produce a finished product when engaging freely in open-ended play.…

Winniscot’s book, Playing and Reality, focuses on the nature of learning through playing and how mentally vulnerable people are when they’re young. In his case studies, he mentioned about a boy who would act in weird manners with strings when his mother wasn’t home. The problem became worse and worse, and they visited him for help. Winnicot suggested that a line of communication would be required between the mother and the child as he could see that the child was too reliant on the mother. After that suggestion, the child seemed to get better at first, but found himself relying too much on his parents for affection and eventually became a drug addict.…
The purpose of this essay is to discuss the circumstances in which play and creativity are fostered within the early years’ settings. First and foremost, there will be a presentation of the fundamental characteristics that play and creativity separately have. Play can come in various different. The games our grandparents played differ significantly from the game our parents played and the games we played as children. Speaking to my family made me question the many theories we have spoken about in class. Since families change whether it comes to size or location the theories of play differ from generation to generation. I am unable to decipher my cultural heritage and identity by looking at the play my parents participated in.…
Robert Cohen and John Harrop begin their creative directing instruction Creative Play Direction by presenting a brief history of the advent of directors. In their first chapter “The Directorial Function,” the authors make a clear emphasis on one definite role of directors; they should have a diverse knowledge of everything in a theatre, ranging from the script to various production elements. Separated into ten chapters, the book explores script interpretation, theatrical compositions, director-actor interaction and styling of a play. Skimming through the chapters, it is apparent that the writers want directors to know everything since the book covers the design elements of production such as the ground plan, lighting, and sound, which people…
