I completley agree with allowing children having their own free time to engage in imaginative and creative play versus more organized activities. Children already participate in a structured organized enviorment at school for most of their day. Children have the capibility of developing critical thinking and problem-solving solutions on their own, if allowed. As a society we already have full days with jobs, homes to take care of and community functions. If we can allow our children to have additional creative play time we should encourage them. They will only be children for a short while and need this imaginative time to express themselves and become independent thinkers. Currentley kids already spend about 6 hours at school a day, not including the routine of getting up and getting ready and preparing for their day. During the day at schools, kids are put a daily schedule for subjects, break times and activities they must do. This already teaches them dedication, responsibility, teamwork and being on time. My oldest daughter has not only excelled in the GATE special program, she is one of the leaders of the technology group. When she was younger her and her brother used to play with little toys called Pets and they used film their play time with an Ipad. In light of this, my daugter used to then edit, add music to the recorded film then share with us. At one of our teacher parent confrences, the teacher praised us for having such a creative child. She mention that my daughter had taken the lead and showed others how to complete and film a virtual book report which was amazing work she added. This again is because we allowed and encourged her to have her creative play
