Introduction
Business in today’s society has many branches that can be utilized to make an individualized approach to an operating career. Within the heart of business, there are individuals that cultivate each business plan in order to create a solid foundation. These certain individuals are referred to as entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs pull together factors of business, societal needs, and wants into a new product or service to sell. The job criteria of an entrepreneur may vary due to the wide array of talents required in order for certain businesses to start. The path of an entrepreneur can merge into one with artistic values. Those that enter into the artistic path are called creative entrepreneurs (Henry, 2007). Innovation and entrepreneurship have become separate paths, but in reality they are reliant on one another in order to function efficiently. The artists in today’s society must utilize innovation in order to survive. Innovation is achieved through the construction of a creative style from multiple art fields. The definition of creative entrepreneurship is “the necessity to balance artistic, financial and self-development considerations” (Henry, 2007). Although entrepreneurs share the same values throughout, there are differences between “traditional” entrepreneurs and “creative” entrepreneurs (Welsch and Kickul, 2001; Henry, 2007). Traditional entrepreneurs follow one career path and stay within the principles of the one choice for the rest of their lives. The creative entrepreneur combines different career traits and combines them into one unique product or service. The creative entrepreneur has chosen to take more risk than the traditional entrepreneur, making them at risk for either a fall or a rise within the company. Not everyone can become a successful entrepreneur, but according to research, a similar trend in personality traits of successful business owners have started to appear. The common link contrasting the success of one business owner to another is the amount of innovativeness, drive to compete, and the ambition to grow that they may possess (Mueller and Thomas, 2001; Robichaud et al., 2001; Shane and Venka-taraman, 2000). Innovation is the missing link between success and the creativity of the entrepreneur. (Tidd, 2014). In order to prove that innovation and entrepreneurship have a link, research has proven that a product of innovation is the idea that our perception of Main Street has been altered in order to make small-business owning seem manageable for anyone (Colarusso, 2014). The harsh reality is that not every entrepreneur is successful. Looking into why some entrepreneurs rise while others fall is crucial in order to understand
