Creationism Vs Religion Essay

Humans have an innate need to understand the world they live in. For thousands of years, societies from all over world have attempted to explain the physical world through origin myths. These myths detail how the earth, sun, moon and man were created. They revolve around a belief that we were created by some higher being. There are a multitude of origin stories. For example, in Christianity, the Bible’s book of Genesis offers an explanation of the origin of humanity. God created the universe in seven days. Man was created to His image, from dust and woman was created from man’s rib. Another example is the creation story of the Bushongo. In this story, the male deity, Bumba, was in terrible pain and vomited the sun, the moon and the stars. Bumba then vomited nine living creatures, and lastly men. Religion has attempted to answer the big questions in life, even if not directly, religion has helped individuals cope with such formidable ideas. God, or Evolution vs. Creationism has been around for hundreds of years. Neither religion nor science has been able to provide proof on how the world was created, nor the existence of a God. They both provide explanations of how it may have happened. While science relies on formal testing to explain why the world is, religion relies on intelligent design, or the argument that God’s existence from the physical world is that living things are so beautiful and purposeful, that they could only have been made by an intelligent designer (Van Biema, 2006). Mr. Stephen Hawking and Mr. Leonard Mlodinow’s assertion that the creation of the universe “does not require intervention of some supernatural being or god” is very pretentious. M-Theory is an unconfirmed theory, yet the authors make the assertion that it explains existence. We don’t have instruments capable of measuring all of Nature; therefore, we cannot be convinced that we have a final
