The creation myth is important to understand for two main reasons. One is because of the idea of reincarnation and how important it is to the story and in real life and second is people need to do something with their life that helps others and can further the human race as a whole and do what others said could not be done. The first point appears many times throughout the story especially at the beginning when Mau is giving the people of the Nation their water burials. The importance of the burial is very high with Mau’s religion because if the people are not buried correctly then they cannot be transformed into dolphins and continue on living until it is time for them to be reborn again.…

A creation myth is the philosophical and theological elaboration of the primal myth of creation within a religious community. The term creation refers to the beginning of things, whether by the will and act of a transcendent being, by emanation from some ultimate source, or in any other way (Encyclopedia Britannica, n.d.). Creation myths are archetypal because of the similarities and characteristics that they display when referencing the creation of the earth. They are allegorical because they show elements of dramatization to emphasise the power of God and the authority of his command. Creation stories reveal the nature of God and the relationship between humankind and God through the recurrence of God punishing mankind for his mistakes,…

They have each showed us unique styles of art including the Roman Coliseum, and the great pyramids of Egypt. Creation myths are written to serve the following functions: to show us the wonder and mystery of creation, to explain the world, to pass down morals and ethics, and to help guide people through life (Phillips). The purpose of a creation myth is to help the reader accept the existence of something, not necessarily explain why it exists. Writers do this through composing eccentric stories about creation, usually with a moral lesson learned, that inspires the reader to believe. For example, my myth focuses on the creation of dreams. The story that I devised about dreams is very unrealistic, but conveys the message of thoughtfulness.…

So, you could say that I have a personal connection to what is written in The Bible. Saying that, from as young as I can remember to my age now, the creation story in Genesis has been a story that is repeated often, but the creation story has always confused me a great deal. The reason being, is due to the fact that I see a deeper meaning to what God is doing in the creation story, but also how realistic can this story possibly be?…
