The Chinese story had an egg shaped cloud that existed before the earth was created. The Greek story Pan Gu and Nu Wa states that the egg broke to release matter of the universe. The Greek creation story was also created by an egg.…

In Christianity's early period, Christian people would meet in individuals' homes, due to Christianity not being legal under Roman rule. In these Christian communities, often owned the 'house churches' where congregations gathered to worship. Such homes were the domain of women while assuming key positions and roles. After, Christianity starts to disregard women as you have the improvement in the hierarchy of the church. For instance, bishops, priests, and deacons, however, it was established that women could not to be either ministers or…
In the Readings on Early Christianity, there are three major figures of early Christianity introduced: St. Antony, St. Augustine, and St. Patrick. Each Saint had their story, journey, and reasoning to believe in what they believed in. Especially in the spiritual and physical realms aspect, their beliefs may be similar, but one is definitely more convinced than the others that “the spiritual is as real as the physical.” Unlike the other major leaders exposed in this booklet, St. Patrick is a great example of this assumption due to his thankfulness of God’s grace on his life and of others, his gift from God, and the differences he made on countless of lives. St. Patrick had an unbelievable journey in his life that made him appreciate God’s grace.…
God spoke, “Let there be light.” (Genesis 1:3) and there was light. On Day 2, God created the heavens and earths. God divided the atmosphere in two and called them the heaven and the earth. (Genesis 1:6) Day 3, God spoke and made vegetation here on Earth.…
Genesis says that God created the heavens and the earth, but in the next few verses the distinction is made between the sky and the heavens. This distinction is made when God creates a “vault” to separate the water from the water, which created the sky in between these two sets of water (Genesis 1). In the Native American story the touching of sky and water caused the creation of the First World (Navajo Creation Story). In the Christian tradition the end of God’s six days of creation signified the creation of Earth and of the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1). This is important because both of those locations were considered holy places and were signified as perfect.…
Through its geographical expansion, Catholics had a major influence on the spread of Christianity. The first-century of Christianity was described as a “spiritual explosion” and the second and third centuries was said to have “provided the channel for this power” (Shelley 27). The period in which Catholic Christianity went forth it “laid plans and shaped the character of the Christian faith for generations to come; it also allowed Christianity to come to terms with time (Shelley 27). “It was a spiritual vision, a conviction that all Christians should be in one body” (Shelley 27). “Catholic Christianity was simply a development of Jesus’ plans and Paul’s efforts” (Shelley 28).…

In this summary of Rodney Starks book “The Rise of Christianity” I will discussing chapters 1, 2, and 4, I found the arguments in these chapters most compelling giving the best overview on the rapid expansion of the Christian religion. Chapter 1 explains the rapid growth and conversion rate of the Christian population by providing charts, facts, and statistics about the conversion and growth rate of the Christian population. Chapter 2 explains the class basis of early Christianity giving multiple arguments on the social status of the Christian population. Chapter 4 discusses the Christian and Pagan responses to the massive epidemics and how these tragedies were large factors of the rapid growth and conversion of the Christian population. These…
In the biblical creation, God created things in a chronological order. He did things successively in a span of seven days. In the bible, God started the first day by creating light, quoting Genesis 1:3 as God said “Let there be light.”. On the second day, God created the sky and the sea, which can be found in Genesis 1:6-8. On the third day, He created land and vegetation.…
Along with the differences in gender came a sexual want between a man and a woman, coming from both sides. When beings first started engaging in sex the others threw things at the couple saying that sex was a horrible thing to commit. During the time of rice the beings came to realize that they did not have to go get rice for every meal, but pick it in bulk and eat from that stash for longer, and have to do work less often. The creatures soon decided to set up sections for them to pick rice to eat from individually, they invented a sense of property. The beings then started stealing rice from other being’s property.…
