Creating ethics in a moment’s notice, to having to be morally and ethically correct is unquestionably difficult for someone in the decision making process. What is considered moral? Whether we have a clear difference between what is right and wrong, is not always the case when it comes to ethical decision making. These choices can affect you for a long time, and make you think to yourself what if? A few months ago I was faced with a situation where my neighbor and one of my best friends tori was having a hard time with her new marriage to her husband manny. She had three children the youngest being his. Around the end of July one Sunday I was sitting on Tori’s front porch and she was distraught over ending her marriage, because she wasn’t happy. Manny had left and taken the children, and was on his way to Georgia for a break. I had asked Tori to ride with me to get my daughter which she declined. I told her I would check on her when I got back to make sure she was doing well. A short time later I returned home and saw Manny’s car in their driveway so I figured he forgot something, or wanted to talk to her. So I went about my business. About 15 mins later I was outside when I started to see officers pull up and gunfire erupt from the house, across the street I was just in. Everything seemed slow motion, as I saw my friend jump out a window she had opened I saw that she had been shot, my heart began to beat very rapidly and I couldn’t make and sense out of what was happening. I could hear was Tori screaming she had been shot and her 3 kids were still inside. I immediately came to the dilemma of should I run to help her and her children, or should I go to my children who were safe in my house and protect them. Ultimately my decision was to run in my house, and pull my children to a room with no windows, as I knew my friend was being …show more content…
Even though the skills are getting better the basic genetic make-up remains unchanged. The capability to integrate character, values, and morals reassure a person’s capacity to improve their ethical behavior.
