Alma Luz Villanueva article “Crazy Courage” expressed Michael B as heroic because he presented his way of living to all those who are unwilling to accept his innocent presence. Michael has the courage to express both sides of himself, his feminine side and his masculine side, without any care of what others thought. His presence at poetry class dressed as a women in a miniskirt, tights and high boots and hardly as a man wearing feminine clothes is evidence of the courage that he has to stand with dignity in the knowledge of who he is. Although it may be strange to others, he is actually stronger than anyone who discriminates against him. The poem is about an inmate who is eagerly waiting for the return of the prison’s most famous inmate Hard Rock. Hard Rock was considered legendary and heroic because he was the man who did things that no one else can. The scars on Hard Rock’s body is proof of his testimony to the carelessness of physical intimidation and pain. Hard Rock was unaffected by fear. However, authorities took note of that and sent him for electricity therapy, which contained him. Now hillbillies can insult him without any fear actions will be taken. The effect on the speaker seems to be a crushing moment even the loss of hope, “he had been our Destroyer, the doer of things we dreamed of doing but could not bring ourselves to do”
