Sitting in the confines of the Miller's Ale House in Tallahassee, I positioned myself in perfect position: on the outside seat of the long, wood bench seat in perfect view of the matchup between the undefeated Green Bay Packers -- my team -- and the San Diego Chargers. In closer proximity was my feast. Nachos piled high with cheese, sour cream, jalapenos, chicken and salsa; cheese curds, a Wisconsin favorite and a tall glass of Angry Orchard hard cider. I set my self up dressed in my old-school, long-sleeved Ray Nietzsche jersey in honor of the throwback jerseys the Pack was wearing from the 1930's and 40's. Soon kick off was upon us.…

Without Dez Bryant, the Dallas Cowboys' offense has been crippled In hopes to improve an offense that’s struggling, the Dallas Cowboys, who’ve been snake bitten with injuries, have made a change at quarterback. Without quarterback Tony Romo, their four-time Pro Bowler and all-time franchise leading passer, the Cowboys were forced to roll with the arm of backup Brandon Weeden, after Romo fractured his left clavicle against the Eagles in Week 2. In three starts, Weeden completed 71 of 98 attempts, completing 72.4 percent of his passes. That looks sexy on paper, but with Weeden under center, Dallas’ passing game didn’t generate plays beyond intermediate distances to stretch opposing defenses for big plays.…

The Washington redskins has been a national football team since 1932. "Redskins" is a a name used originally by native Americans, and also approved by local natives. I believe the redskins name shouldn't be changed because the name gives pride and honor to the redskins tribe. Charles Krauthammer states how years ago, the word "retarded" was simply a word meaning idiotic, but was made into a derogatory term used against the disabled. So the issue is not the team name itself but the ability to change the name.…

On August 26th, the San Francisco 49ers hosted the Green Bay Packers for a preseason exhibition game. Normally, there is little attention given to these games because they are played with the sole purpose of evaluating the progress of players before the regular season begins. This game, however, ended up receiving worldwide attention for something that happened before the game had even started. Colin Kaepernick, the current backup-QB for the 49ers, made headlines by choosing not to stand during the playing of the national anthem of the United States. In a recent town hall meeting in Jacksonville, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said in regards to a possible playoff expansion "It likely will happen at some point, but we want to be really cautious because we really like the balance we have with the importance of the regular season and the postseason and you don't want to mess with that balance. You have to be really careful and cautious." (Via Jaguars.com) I for one am not a proponent of playoff expansion in the NFL.
