Crash is a drama film from 2004 by the director and screenwriter Paul Haggis. The film revolves around racism and stereotyping. Crash tells the story about the collision of several intertwining plotlines, where various people have to confront their attitudes and prejudices in the city of Los Angeles. The film received mostly positive reviews and several awards, including the 2006 Oscar for Best Picture. In the film, we see many famous actors at their best including; Don Cheadle who plays detective Graham Waters and Matt Dillon playing the frustrated angry and somewhat racist cop John Ryan. The whole move takes place in the Lose Angeles area in only 36 hours and its action field with many unexpected scenes and thought provoking situations.

It tells us that we all are different, yet the same inside. It shows that we all are quick to make assumptions about others based on their skin color or background. We see the characters in the movie evolving and we evolve with them. We see them learn of their mistakes and becoming better people. As the characters evolve, we became more and more emotionally involved with them. We start reevaluating our thoughts about racism and discrimination. The movie portrays all races in a balanced way. Whites, blacks, Asians and Hispanics are all shown as being capable of both good and bad. Haggis seeks to show that all people are flawed and the there is very little in the world that is black and white. It is in the gray areas that most people reside, and with each of the characters, there are undesirable characteristics as well as redeemable qualities.
