The Crash Reflects Me, My Mom And My Dad

The Crash

This story follows me, my mom, and my dad. As you can tell from the title, this story won’t be a happy jolly story with rainbows and snow cones. None of those at all will be relevant to this story. This is a personal thing that I myself can vividly remember. It’s not like you expect to get a phone call that can put life in perspective. It’s not like you want a phone call that can change your life. It’s not like you need a phone call that can change your family. Haven’t you ever felt that feeling when someone has lost something you feel like you’ve lost it too. That involves a car and my dad. This was his prized possession. My mom walks into the room with her phone in her hand. She sits down on my bed and says, “Do you understand what happened?” “Yes.” I replied with a sigh. “Is he okay?” I asked already knowing the answer which was no. She sighed and said, “He’ll be alright sweetheart, but he needs some rest.” I needed to see what happened, “What happened to him though?” My mom looked at me and said, “Here.” She gave me her phone and showed me a picture of what once used to be a perfect looking car. Now it is smashed in half and can not be fixed. When I see the picture of the car I can’t imagine knowing what my dad went through. This scared me badly and I was so lost on what to say. When you actually see what happened it’s different from what you heard. You can’t process or understand what people can go through in life. It makes you think about how you act and what may be the last words you say to someone. I could’ve lost my dad that day, but I didn’t. He wasn’t severely injured but it makes you think about what other people went through. I’m glad my dad is fine and is safe, but some people don’t get that lucky. I learned to always be there for eachother and to know what you say

Although it sounded like a good way to escape from reality, I found myself not having anyone to talk to. They didn’t know the boys, they didn’t feel the pain I was feeling.
