Having taken a managerial role in a team in the Cranfield Business Challenge, I've been able to take responsibility for key business decisions and apply my academic theory to real business simulations. I was particularly enthusiastic in applying Porter's Five Forces specifically to assess our market position, examining aspects such as buyer power and what impacts this would have. I have also been able to utilise business strategies, manage cash flow and interpret balance sheets to achieve business objectives, such as revenue maximisation and I can now comprehend the importance of interpreting data and decision-making and how it impacts businesses. NCS allowed me to work alongside individuals I wouldn't normally get an opportunity to work with and learn vital life skills.
I've also taken part in the IFS Student Investor Challenge where I led a team through the buying and selling of shares on a virtual stock market to success, finishing in the top 20% in the UK out over 7000 teams. This enabled me to gain an insight into how investors make critical decisions in order to make a profit. Alongside the Cranfield Business Challenge, I feel these experiences have developed me, academically and personally.
With any business related degree, I understand that it is a demanding course which requires commitment. I believe I have the attributes to excel and push myself on a personal and academic level. My experiences are a small step into the world of business and I am eager to learn and fulfil my potential. I feel I am a capable, passionate individual with many skills and qualities to bring and I will aim to further myself with such a challenging degree, becoming a well-rounded figure to your
