Sager was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) which is when the myeloid cells interfere with one’s white blood cells and red blood cells, disrupting one’s ability to fight disease and maintain one’s health (Cancer Treatments of America). When Craig Sager was diagnosed with this terminal disease, he did not know the effects it would have on his family and his broadcasting career. All Craig ever did was work and for once he could not.
