KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) currently consists of 183 schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia serving nearly 70,000 students. More than 87 percent of our students are from low-income families and eligible for the federal free or reduced-price meals program, and 96 percent are African American or Latino. Nationally, more than 94 percent of KIPP middle school students have graduated high school, and more than 82 percent of KIPP alumni have gone on to college.…

Craig Kielburger, founder of “Free the Children” tries to incorporate design thinking in his approach to breaking the cycle of poverty and ending exploitation of children in the developing world. Indeed, when tackling this complex problem, he adopts the point of view of local children and calls for developing a deep understanding of unmeet needs in each village, thus avoiding the pitfall of imposing the wrong solution on a community. His approach is shaped in 3 fundamental phases that overlap each other: inspiration, ideation and implementation. His process of design starts with curiosity and inspiration, gathering hundreds of data points on the issue, by observing and talking to every stakeholder involved. In fact, before starting any projects, Craig spends a few weeks in villages, getting to know the whole community and gathering information on the habits, the culture, the relationships between actors, the laws, the barriers, that shape the way of living in each community.…

According to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) "children living in poverty are those who experience deprivation of the material, spiritual and emotional resources needed to survive, develop and thrive, leaving them unable to enjoy their rights, achieve their full potential or participate as full and equal members of society". Poverty limits children's opportunities for education, puts them at risk for health problems and increases the likelihood that they’ll be subjected to child labor or early marriage. Poor children are hungry and at risk for malnutrition, underdevelopment and stunting, which can have serious health consequences later…

The organization that I’ve chosen was Live Action I selected this group because I like how it deals with ending abortion, protecting the rights to human rights, and exposing the truth about abortion. Live Action is a human rights organization; that’s against abortion and expose the violence of what abortion does to both the mother and child. This is a group of brave young warriors fighting the injustice of legal abortion. Live action is a pro-life advocate for human rights it's the greatest human rights injustice of our time. It’s a typical day in Pleasant Grove church; the Greatminds program has just begun. Brianna and Mayonne run in with glowing smiles and open arms.
