Craig Havighurst covered one of the greatest stories of courage and a gut feeling that significantly impacts the story and history of so many Nashvillians. Without the creation of WSM, so many lives would have had different paths, as "Air Castle of the South" was more than just a program that created the Grand Ole Opry. It was a pioneering moment that allowed a unique opportunity for a station to develop a radio broadcast technology that would change lives and bring about change within the way view the business of radio and television broadcast and the regulation. Throughout the seminar, I never fathomed the impact on business today and the nuances that WSM-AM 650 radio created for our modern methods, in which still guide our techniques and principles on marketing. …show more content…
Nashville is a city that runs very deep within the veins of my personal story, both for my family and myself. The majority of my family started out their insurance and financial careers within the ranks of other Nashville residents with National Life and Accident. For many the Nashville-based insurance company, owned by WSM, remained an integral part of the workforce that delivered insurance policies to other working class families, while using the station's call letters, WSM to incorporate their slogan of "We Shield Millions." As the most heartwarming part of this seminar, as even beyond the business acumen and insightful nature of the topic it gave me the understanding of why my family is thankful to have had National Life and Accident, as an early part of our
