Cradles To Crayons Analysis

Decent Essays
I do not think that I would do anything differently for this assignment if I had to do it again because when it came to my group we divided everything equally. We each worked well together and worked together as a team. I am glad that we chose Cradles to Crayons because it is a great agency that has an amazing mission. I want to work with children in the future, so it gave me an idea on what I want to do when I graduate. I think that this assignment was done the right way and my group did not have any challenges working together. If we needed each other’s help we worked together as a team. I am glad that this assignment was a group project because it made it more fun and I do not think I would have been able to do this assignment on my own.

I learned a lot from this OIR that will affect my future teaching career hopefully in a better approach. I learned that some children develop slower than others and some develop quicker. All children achieve milestones at different times in their lives. Seeing that some children need a little extra help (guidance in independence and taking responsibility) and some children don’t, show that when I’m a teacher, I’m going to have to accommodate to these children’s needs as much as possible. I also learned that some children need more time than others to develop.…

The Toberman Neighborhood Center project was fun and an amazing experience. Being a photographer I found while completing some parts made me feel to shy to ask others for help. My professor encouraged me to “get out of my comfort zone” and start asking them myself if they allowed me to take photos of them for the project, which generally is quite significant. At first I did not have any courage to ask them I simply thought I was interrupting them and invading their personal space The interactions with the organization showed me what goodness really does in society and they love to change the world and the lives of others in a subtle way.…

Firstly, reflecting on the lab simulation of our educational, behavioural intervention group, which was preforming in the working stage; with young women who were prenatal or postnatal; the socio-economic status was that of a lower income position. Sharon and I clearly had defined roles as facilitators, which we collaborated well between each other. There was a shared accountability when aiding in the group including mutual support of each other to help better meet the needs of the group, emotionally, educationally, and cognitively. With feedback from classmates and members of the group that was relayed back that the presentation was creative and well put together, it had a flow to the group. As facilitators we brought in our own life experience, and used informal educational tools and sharing to make the group feel inclusive.…

For my service hours for Public Health class, I served at the Boys and Girls Club where I worked with children from the age of five to twelve. Upon arriving at the Boys and Girls club last week, I came across a few thoughts of how it would be to work with children. The first thought in my head was that working with children isn’t going to be challenging and might be the easiest service I have done. I expected the work to be very stress-free and less overwhelming than any other services. Another expectation I had was that volunteering at the Boys and Girls Club would be like any other experience, like the one of many times when I have tutored kids.…

When you are working with groups of children, you may find it difficult to balance the needs of individuals with those of the group. This will be because often children seem to require different levels of attention. “Exploring my Image of the Child” As Dahlberg (1999) explains, understanding and defining the ideal child is a difficult task. In fact, each person has their own definition of the child based on their own worldviews, thus, perhaps making ‘the’ child an abstract concept. This paper is a personal reflection of my worldview, personal experiences, and understanding of a child. I also explore how my new perspective of early childhood education has added to my roles as a Child and Youth Care practitioner working with families and communities.…
