Cracker Barrel a Southern restaurant known for its Southern food and homey gift shops filled knickknacks are starting to expand its retail mix to lure in a new, younger demographic. “ The CEO of Cracker Barrel Sandra Cochran said the company plans to broaden its relevance to Millennials and Multicultural communities through enhanced marketing messaging, menu innovation, and new retail merchandise” (). This is quite a change for the 641 chain that started 47 years ago. The reason behind Cracker Barrel wanting to attract millennials is the same as any other traditional restaurant: consumers prefer fast-causal concepts. The NDP Group restaurant industry analyst says that millennials between 19 to 35 years of age prefer fast-casual restaurants such as Chipotle and Five Guys because they prefer the fresh ingredients offered at a low price point. this change is great for the restaurant because they will gain a new type of revenue by adding more items to the store and lowering their prices. As time are changing it’s becoming more difficult for restaurants and retail store to say a float due to consumers being selective. Restaurants that are changing with times such as Cracker Barrel are seeing an increase in there customer base and revenue.
