“Pro football is like a nuclear warfare. There are no winners, only survivors.” Football is a team sport that has been around for quite some time. On November 6th, 1869 the first ever college football game was played. Since then, the game has progressed rapidly. Players are becoming stronger and taller. If they’re getting stronger, then there tackles are going to hurt more. Do you know the damage numerous hits to the body, mainly even head, can do to a player? The answer is CTE. For those of you who do not know what Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) is, it is a progressive degenerative disease of the brain found in athletes (and others) with a history of repetitive brain trauma, including symptomatic concussions as well as asymptomatic subconcussive hits to the head. Although many fans of the game do not know what CTE is or maybe even heard of it, it’s very dangerous and degenerates your brain. There is no way to make this game safer to prevent this illness from occurring. The people live to see these heavy hitters tackle the not so strong players. These big tackles are the main causes for the CTE problem and there’s no way around it. Duffy Daugherty once said,”Football isn’t a contact sport, it’s a collision sport. Dancing is a contact sport.” Accurate statement because in american football, 22 well trained, professional athletes are going head to head, brutally tackling each other, trying to either defend or get the ball. Basically colliding into each other. But in dancing, two people are simply dancing their life away, not pulverizing each other. Moving on from all that, football hurts you in many ways.
