I desperately wish the issues that infiltrated and still infiltrate my community were addressed earlier, however, I am proud to say I was and am a part of the change. I applied to be on the Title IX Student Advisory Board to be the representative from UCSB and even though I did not get it this year, I have the full intention to apply again next year when I have even more experience under my belt and can offer even more to the board.
I also am taking the Current Issues in Sport course to expand my Title IX knowledge in terms of sports and not just sexual assault because I hope to close any knowledge gaps I currently see.
I am very passionate about making a campus change and eventually a global change. While I don’t know the specific career I want, I do know what I want to get out of my career. I want to know that I’m making a difference in the lives of others. Any scholarship assistance would be incredibly appreciated and assist in my pursuit to receive a higher education which will in turn help me to land a position where I can make the largest

Important to realize, Title IX is a wondrous step forward for our nation, but it is severely flawed. There are several modifications that needed in order to reflect our ever changing society. It feels as though it is not a result of Title IX but rather due to the crudely implemented ways that people still discriminate in the present day. Regarding what improve can be made, there are several examples of changes that are needed in order for Title IX to reflect our society. An example being the fact that professional women’s sports in our country should also receive the same benefits and possibly reward those who attempt to market these teams into the mainstream as several of these sports are underrepresented in our society.…

I think I should be a part of Mortar Board because I have spent the entirety of my college career working to strengthen my skills in leadership and build on my character. I am very dedicated to my studies, and I make it a priority to excel in all of my classes. While I am already involved in many activities on campus, I am always careful to decide whether I have the time to give to a new organization before joining. I am well aware of the time requirements and level of commitment that would be expected of me as a member of Mortar Board, and I am both able and willing to commit. I think I would be a great addition to Mortar Board because scholarship, leadership, and service are all aspects of my life that are very important to me.…

The entire student body participated in deep discussions over a wide range of topics including beliefs, injustice, and conflicts in our society. Everyone treated other’s contributions with respect and consideration of their ideas and views. Each discussion and activity opened my eyes to recognize meaningful things that society normally overlooked.…

Many students explained they came to Cazenovia College to get away from the drama, the shootings, and the racial slurs at home. Freshman expressed their illusions of Cazenovia College as a safe place are quickly crumbling. However, at the end of the dialogue, after everybody had shared, Katie O’Brien spoke up. Yesterday, February 14th, the student body held a second dialogue, one which was much more positive and solution driven – a personnel or office of multi-cultural affairs was added to the original list of three solutions.…
