The end of the novel mirrors the beginning with the narrator, I, and Coyote discussing and beginning to retell the story. The narrator first notices that Coyote is covered in mud and all wet, stating now they have to do it all over again. Following that, the four Indians ask whether Coyote has apologized for rushing through a story, reminding what happened the last time he didn't. Finally, Coyote attempts to tell the creation story, starting with "In the beginning there with was nothing." (King 431) The narrator corrects Coyote, saying "In the beginning, there was just the water," (King 431) before the narrator tells to Coyote to sit down, and the creation story is retold again.

The Grand Canyon Boulders Taller than the Great Tower of Seville by Garcia Lopez de Cardenas and The Most Sublime Spectacle on Earth by John Wesley Powell are two stories with different opinions of The Grand Canyon. The first story shows how The Grand Canyon can be very annoying and not worth of seeing. The second story shows how The Grand Canyon can be very fascinating; therefore the author has trouble explaining his whole trip. However, as Dan Flores illuminates in his book, Coyote America: A Natural and Supernatural History, that encounter was not an unusual experience at all. In the past century coyotes have spread across all reaches of the United States.…
