The first difference is the main character or trickster. In “Master Cat” the trickster is a cat. In “Coyote Steals Fire’ the trickster is a Coyote. Even though these characters possess a lot of the same traits, they are different types of animals. The second difference is in their anthropomorphism. In “Coyote Steals Fire” Coyote does not wear clothes. In “Master Cat” Puss in boots wears clothes which is a human like characteristic. The third difference is the trickster traits. In “Coyote Steals Fire” Coyote could be viewed as a more selfless person due to the fact that he went and stole the fire from thunder for society. In “Master Cat” Puss in boots could be viewed as a greedy or selfish person because his goal is only for him, which is to impress the king with his master clothes, land, and castle so he wouldn't get killed. The final difference is in the outcome/benefit of the two trickster tales. In “Coyote Steals Fire” Coyote achieves his goal of stealing fire and the outcome benefits him as well as society. In “Master Cat” Puss in boots achieves his goal which is to have his master become wealthy and not die, but that outcome only benefits him not
