I personally have noticed many changes throughout this course. I mostly noticed how now I analyze my jobs more with my coworkers, bosses and myself. I have one job that I absolutely love and another one that I do not care for very much, I did not really understand why because I get along well with my coworkers and higher ups. As our course went on and I started to understand business some more I then realized why there were certain things that were shaping my views about my jobs. One big thing that I noticed was the team work at my jobs. The job that I enjoy more has great team work, everyone knows their specific job and everyone does it well. We all do our jobs while helping each other when needed without having to be asked. Every one communicates…

In this class I have learned many things that will improve my critical thinking skills and leadership abilities. This class also reinforced and expanded my knowledge regarding things that I already knew about. I have been in the healthcare field for over 30 years and as this class reinforced it is always changing. I learn something new every day therefore allowing this profession to be one that I remain challenged by and interested in even after 30 years. This class reminded me that everyone is a stakeholder in the healthcare system and every stakeholder brings something different to the field. I have chosen to pursue a career in healthcare administration at Kaplan University. As with everything, one must first understand what to learn before learning it. To start my pursuit, I will need to gain an understanding of the career. In this paper, I will examine both the career and my goals within the career. I will do this in two parts: firstly, I will look at an overview of the career, the educational requirements, and the personality traits needed for the career. I will then establish my own career goals and how Kaplan University Career Center can help me reach them. Once I understand this I can envision where I will be in five years.…

Ten years ago I emigrated from my county of birth to the United States to continue my life here. I chose the medical field because I was always fascinated with it, primarily because my nature was always been to help people. I have had a long journey that has led me to this exiting point in my career which has included full time work and full time school, learning English language and adjusting to a new culture. This journey has made me who I am now; a very dedicated health care provider caring for patients, striving to provide quality care and being the patients’ advocate at all times. I am extremely interested in learning new things, because life for me is a learning process and I thrive every day to increase my knowledge in all the things…

During this time I held leadership roles responsible for training of new medical assistants, medical billing and documentation education for providers, and establishing workflow processes to address gaps in care. During this time I worked to engage providers and staff in achieving quality care outcomes such as mammogram, A1c, and pneumococcal vaccination compliance. I worked directly with nurse practitioners and physicians as we transistioned a practice from paper to electronic medical records and struggled with financial hardships. As a member of the practice management team I learned the value of dedication and research. As a team we worked toward identifing patterns in complaince and tracked intereventions to determine value to the practice. We looked for ways to reduce costs and increase staff satification. In participating in practice improvement activities I was able to enhance my critical thinking skills and understand the finanical aspects to the medical field. It was the end of my sophomore year and class registration was available to students. I heard from my previous classmates that advanced placement courses help you better develop and understand your writing. My essays were nothing but words on a page. It was weak in style and flow. However, I was hesitant to register for advanced placement courses, specifically English composition. The need for a change came when I realized I needed more attention in my writing. After hearing from my classmates about the course, I knew I needed to enroll. The fear of not comprehending and understanding the material in the class weighed heavy. My confidence was low but my drive was significant. I contacted the advanced placement Teacher Dr. Wiggins and explained my situation. She was very encouraging and supportive, and at that moment, I knew she could improve my skills as a writer. My motive is to improve my writing skills as a student and as a person in order to apply it in college and the workforce. At the time, my ability to understand and develop my writing was inadequate. Through Dr. Wiggin’s assistance, she helped me grow and develop my writing style into something I am proud of today.…

This semester has been a whirlwind. I learned some strengths that I have, as well as some weaknesses, but all in all I’ve enjoyed every bit of this class. Writing the first essay of the semester I found myself unsure and uncomfortable with writing college level essays, but now after submitting my fourth essay I am much more confident. From learning proper MLA in-text citations, to focusing my essays to make a clear point, to bettering my ability to provide proper support for my argument; my knowledge has expanded more than I could have imagined.…

My third goal is to use my experience as a course assistant in my first year to observed the inner cogs of running a course and teaching styles in order to build my own ability to organize a successful class as well as my own pedagogy theories. By grading and thus experiencing two divergent courses, of opposite sizes, and different course levels, I realized the various nuances of how to teach, organize, and handle class policy. It also affirmed the difficulty of teaching and my need to learn more. Simply observing two courses is not enough experience to state that I am a capable teacher. Demonstrating that I can function as an assistant in undergraduate courses will be a vital addition to my CV, but it will also demonstrate a finer level of…

Here at UCI, I have taken many writing courses before this class such as AC Eng. 20B, AC Eng. 20C, AC Eng. 20D, AC Eng. 28, Writing 39A, and Writing 39B. Writing has always been my biggest fear and it is something that I have the most difficulty doing it because English is not my first language that I have learned in my life. In addition, I never had any problem communicating with people, but when it comes to writing, I always have to go through a lot of struggles to put them into words because most of the time I find myself repeating the same concept throughout my writing, which most likely to make me go off topic. That lack of skills would always indicate in my academic paper. My experiences with the previous writing courses was not very…

When I delivered the teaching session, the experience was an overall success with students showing a clear interest and engaging in the lesson (Table 1, question 10, mean 4.3). The teaching began with a clear introduction to the key learning points for the whole session (Table 1, question 5, mean 4.3), which allowed the students to understand what the session was going to entail. This was beneficial to those who needed to see the big picture to see how topics fit together[1]. I further explained that the session will be split into three sections and explained that certain learning outcomes will be covered in each section. Student feedback stated that there was “enthusiastic teaching in appropriate sized teaching bites.” I felt that breaking…

The time I spent with my student during our tutoring sessions gave me a first-hand experience of how it is like on a student to teacher level. I learned a lot from my student, Kade, as I hope he also learned from me. During this time, I was able to observe his strengths and his weakness. I had to be flexible to cater my lesson plan to my student, so he could build upon what he learned and advance through more challenging activities. Through careful assessment, I could then evaluate my student and make a lesson plan that would build on his skills. These assessments include student reading inventory, running records, and spelling inventory. Through my observations I could identify my student’s reading and writing skills and apply them to their activities.…
