Which 3 tools or strategies have you found especially useful in your wiring process this term? Explain using specific examples form your writing process for Essays 1 and 2 Then explain which aspect of your getting started writing process needs improvement and why.
The three strategies that I have found useful in my writing process this term were, writing about prior knowledge on the topic, Freewrite, and having conversations with the professor, tutor and peers. I have noted that it is important to write about prior knowledge on a particular topic because it is important to provide background knowledge on what you are writing about. In Essay 1, I had to write about the American Dream, and what it means to me. Since everyone has a sense of what the American Dream means to each of us, I had a previous knowledge of what the American Dream means to me. Essay 2 was about gender socialization. The amount of background knowledge I had wasn’t as extensive as in essay 1. My knowledge of gender socialization was limited to the roles women and men played in society and how women and men are supposed to behave. Also, what error patterns are you now aware of in your own writing? How do you plan to work on improving in this area?
What I now understand that I need to print out a physical copy of my paper and read it several times in order to make certain that my paper is free of spelling and grammar errors. I also need to check for sentences structure to make sure they make sense. What I am lacking in is, repetition. I tend to repeat what I write, I need to condense thoughts as well as have more of my own commentary in my document. I could improve this by doing more peer review, I need to have other people point it out in order to address
