My story begins in the year 1998 when my parents made the courageous decision to move from South Africa to the United States. My mom was four months pregnant with me when my dad was offered a job with a company as a Supply Chain Consultant in Connecticut. It was a difficult decision choosing to move away from their support group, all their family and friends, and to America, where they knew no one. This decision changed my life in every way possible.
The decision to move to the United States became clear because of the financial instability and political unrest in South Africa. The South African government was going downhill, which caused a high rate of crime and a low number of job opportunities. My parents did not want to raise a family
