The season was off to a rough start before it even started; our team was very inexperienced because we graduated thirteen seniors and five other players quit. A majority of the players were two so we were starting from square one. Nonetheless, I was optimistic and determined. As the only senior, and one of three upperclassman, I had been playing the longest and was determined that I would be able to lead the team to greatness. I took it upon myself to encourage everyone to remain optimistic and try even harder to do well. My strategy helped us improve, and even if we still were not winning, we were at least acting as a team and making small adjustments, especially in communication and overall teamwork.
In the middle of the season, I was hit in the head and got a concussion. The hardest part of my recovery was being told that I could not go to games or practices; I could not even go to watch. After begging the school nurse and my doctor, I was allowed to go a watch, where I became the team’s biggest cheerleader. I missed a third of the season in total, but when I returned, I became determined to win a game. I talked to the team and told them my goal and we all agreed that we would, together, practice harder, run faster, hit the ball harder and overall just have more
