Having the “courage to grow” is a reflection of my character, grit, and determination through the choices I make in my daily life. Whether I’m earning good grades, competing as a rodeo athlete, or sharing my time and talents as a mentor and by visiting with residents at local nursing homes with my dogs and horses, I continually strive to be a genuine role model in both my academic and personal life.

I come from a generational Iowa farm family and each year can be a financial challenge depending on which way the crop prices fluctuate. My parents have encouraged and supported my brother and I in working towards achieving our goals as rodeo athletes and college-bound students, while simultaneously caring for my elderly grandparents throughout
