My Interest In Psychology

Psychology has always been a part of my life indirectly, from people watching in an ice cream shop with my dad, to emergency counseling sessions with a friend after emotional trauma. I have always analyzed people’s behavior even since I was a child watching the way my parents raised me and the way they acted towards one another. I have always been interested in the way the human mind works and how we interact with each other. Thompson because of her specialization in conflict resolution, affairs, relapse prevention, depression, and anxiety. A powerful motive for pursuing social or human services work are personal experiences. I chose to study and work in substance abuse counseling because I wanted the opportunity to do for others what my counselors did for me and my family. During and after my road to recovery I had continued experiences with family and friends who have or still are struggling with sobriety. After attending different types of counseling in different settings for myself and family members it became clear to me that addiction doesn’t discriminate. Addiction doesn’t care where you came from, who you came to be, or what your dreams are.…

With IM and iLS there is actual improvement in other indirect tasks such as tying ones shoe and behavior regulation. The notion behind Interactive Metronome (IM) is that it works to improve the brain 's rhythm and timing, which is essential for many bodily functions. A deficit in this area can affect attention, concentration, motor control, coordination, balance, gait and control of impulsivity. Since SPD causes delays in the relay time of messages, the IM system therapy uses rhythmic sounds and beeps that are heard via the headphones that the patient must attempt to mimic and synchronize by clapping their hands or tapping their foot.…

I was raised in Michigan, but, don't be fooled. I have cheese running through my blood, thick skin to survive the brutal winters, and my heart softens every time I see an Aaron Rodger’s jersey. After being born in Appleton, Wisconsin, I frequently went back to visit the beautiful state; with each visit, I fell more and more in love. I appreciate the University’s approach to applying knowledge to the real world. Some relationships just do not work out as hoped so divorce is a good option, especially when kids are involved in a family that is falling apart. These people may care about each other, or not, but they will most likely be happier and in a better place to care for their children apart rather than together. In addition, now that people are paying less attention to being an economic unit they can focus more on family and understanding each other. These changes from the traditional American family are not making it deteriorate, but are instead changing it to make it stronger than it has ever…

From an early age I have been intrigued by the human mind and how it works. This interest has been enhanced through my study of psychology. Although I have only studied this subject for a relatively short period of time, I have enjoyed the variety the A-level course provides and I feel I have had a sample of different fields of this subject. I have particularly enjoyed studying comparative psychology because I am interested in how the human mind can be explained in evolutionary terms and how we can be compared to non-human animals. I have always enjoyed mathematics, both learning and application.…

Concerning my interest in child heath and wellness, I think there is both an objective and a more emotionally-imbued reason. Detaching myself from the emotional aspects of working with and for the sake of children, I am interested in child health because children are constantly growing and developing. In respects to neuroscience, I am able to see and research neurological diseases and cognitive functions as it applies to a brain that is constantly changing. The adult brain does have some plasticity, but it is incomparable to that of a child’s. I am fascinated by the aspect of change and development and how that influences the variables being researched.…

The study of psychology determines it as the scientific study of the mind, behaviour, how we think, feel and act independently and with other human beings. Maslow (2013) concurs that psychology is the science of the mind. However since the beginning of psychological study many mainstream scientists struggle to accept the concept of psychology as a science. Those opposed to the notion of psychology as a science highlight ethical considerations as a weakness in its approach. Schneider et al (2014) suggests in the study of human beings, there are strict boundaries on what types of studies are permitted.…

There comes a time in life when a person finds another whom they admire and feel as though they are meant for each other. Acting on their feelings for each other, a couple will find the need to marry and live happily ever after. It’s very rare that a couple will come to find that their instincts of one another are correct and they, indeed, are meant for each other. When it does not work out in a marriage, the best solution is to file for divorce. In 1857, a divorce law was created to allow the general public to file for a divorce.…
