I found it very alarming how in today’s society, the public policy for people of different socioeconomic status and or of a minority group is significantly different. Think of how many police brutality stories that have been heard now that there is some light being shed on the subject after the Ferguson, Missouri incident occurred. “…Whites believe that Black are disproportionately inclined to engage in criminal behavior and are the deserving on harsh treatment by the criminal justice system.” (Chaney & Robertson, 2013, p. 8). Another fact that racism is prevalent and unfortunately can be seen done by those we trust to protect us.
So how does one go about combating this invisible war against racism? In the Guerin article he suggests that we should not call people racist or say an act towards someone is an act of racism. Guerin suggests this because he feels that if you are talking about someone that’s racist than are you not too by talking about them and positing characteristics of a group. I have to agree with this because yes if you do call out someone that is being racist than essentially you are as well but how does anything get
