To say that the subject of abortion is polemic would be a great understatement to say the very least. The battle of abortion is one that has been fought repeatedly and tirelessly with no end. For some, the right to an abortion may oppose certain ethical, social, or legal issues that an individual may follow. However, those specific religions, ethnic groups, or associations with the same opposition to abortions are not by any means required to have an abortion. Groups that oppose abortions are entitled to peacefully protest their discontent however without substantial reasoning the anti or pro-abortion quarrel can only go so far. The right to have an abortion should remain a legal option because laws prohibition it prevents women from making …show more content…
Arguably, one of the largest cases made by most pro-choice bodies; is an abortion justified when the baby is a result from rape or incest. Studies have shown that victims of rape and incest male or female often experience forms of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and depression, these can be very hard to cope with. Adding a baby into mix, especially a baby created during the fact would only continue to remind the victim the inhumane violence acted upon her. A counter argument could state that only around seven percent of all pregnancies were caused by rape and incest, however when added up, that still leads to about thirty-two thousand rape-related pregnancies a year. In addition to rape and incest there are also teen pregnancies to add into the equation. Contrary to popular belief, the rates of teen pregnancy in the United States has only gone up within the last five years. Teenagers who become parents at such a young age are likely to suffer serious consequences right alongside their children. Teen parents routinely drop out of their current level of education, and rely on welfare funds to live off. Less than two percent of all teen Moms acquire their college degree by the age of 30, this limits the number of career options for them and furthers them from a successful life (Thompson

Throughout the article Abortion, the Marginalized, and the Vulnerable: A Social Justice Perspective for Reducing Abortion, Steven Tracy struggles with the ever present issues of abortion as well as the social injustice surrounding this debate. Though Tracy aligns with the pro-life political stance, he presents criticisms for both sides of this important and heated debate. On the other hand, Thia Cooper never denies her stance that abortion should be legal, but along the same lines she brings up wrongs committed from both pro-life and pro-choice. Both articles bring to attention some of the faults of both sides of the debate, and both argue that the real problem behind the debate is not whether abortion should or should not be legal. Both articles…

Abortions are one of the most controversial topics debated, with their being two sides: “pro-life” or “pro-choice”. Pro-life advocates argue that an abortion is a woman's right to choose, and women should be able to make decisions that involve their body and health. Pro-life advocates argue that an abortion is considered murder, with the reason being that an unborn child is living, fully human, helpless and voiceless while developing inside the womb (K, Brown). Although countless individuals feel that abortions should be a woman's right to choose, abortions should be illegal altogether because it denies and deprives the rights of life, can result in medical complications and psychological trauma for women, and because of the fact that a fetus is capable of feeling pain. TFP Student Action states since the…

The bottom line is if a woman decides abortion is the right choice for her then she should be allowed to go through with it without other people judging her and making her feel guilty about the choices she decides to make because we do not know what the woman is going through. She could be terminally ill for all we know, or could have been raped, or the baby could have severe birth defects. In addition, the fetus is not considered a living person yet because it cannot sustain itself without the mother's body so getting an abortion should not be considered murder (Brown). A woman should have the fundamental right to do whatever she believes is ethical because it is her body so it is nobody's business but her own. Given these points if you are…

From the many California laws, one particular abortion law is the cause of much controversy. This controversial California law states that a parent’s approval for an underaged girl to obtain an abortion is not mandatory (National Center for Youth Law). Abortion is a huge problem that has caused a wide range of controversy all over the United States. There are two sides to the problem, which are people who oppose abortion or support it. Abortion becomes a big deal when trying to decide whether a fetus should be considered a human being already when a woman aborts. In my case I believe that a woman should not be able to abort a child inside her unless there is some type of serious medical issue where the child may not come out alive. When a woman aborts a child, they did not want, it is like the killing of another human being who had no say or ever did anything wrong to deserve it.…

Abortion is the ending of a pregnancy by removing a fetus or embryo from the womb before it can survive on its own. There are two different groups of people. There is the “pro-choice” group who believe that the women have the right to choose what she does with her body. Then there is the “pro-life” group that believes that the unborn child has the right to live. I am pro-life; I believe that there is no sense in killing the child that you brought into this world.…
