Psychotherapy is the solution of mental disorder using psychology and not by using medical means. In psychotherapy, psychologists apply procedures to patients using psychology to help patients become healthier, and have more effective habits. Psychotherapy is important in our lives because it can help out people with many of their problems. There are five main forms of psychotherapy but three are important and is most famous; they are Psychoanalysis and psychodynamic therapy, behavior therapy, cognitive therapy, humanistic therapy, and integrative therapy. They all share their similarities and differences but all of them are important and everyone can benefit from them. The focus of therapy is on how one is thinking, behaving, and communicating with others. Cognitive therapy helps patients develop effective self helping skills that can be used in homework assignments that help you change the way you think, feel and behave with it. Aaron T. Beck, the American Psychotherapist, developed this form of Psychotherapy. Cognitive therapy was proved that it emphasizes what patients think instead off what they do. Integrative Psychotherapy is important because it sums affective, cognitive, behavioral, and physiological systems within one person.
Furthermore, all of the forms of psychotherapy have lots of similarities to compare them with. They all have to deal with people’ behaviors. All approaches people in a supportive manner and focuses on people consciousness. They all have the most common goal and it is to solve people problems. It’s done psychologically and not medically. They all have to deal with one’s responsibilities, personalities. Also they are all learned and practiced to have good behaviors at the end. They all focus on how patients think and behave around others and to develop good habits.
Finally, there are lots of differences in the forms of psychotherapy. Cognitive only focuses on emphasis on person’s thoughts and self-behaviors like depression, loneliness, panic, fears, and stuff in that concept. Behavioral, which is self explanatory, only focuses on changing bad habits to good ones as well as developing abnormal and normal behaviors and removes difficult behaviors. While on the other hand, humanistic therapy only focuses on developing strong personalities and get to have responsibilities, and self-developments. Finally, Cognitive therapy uses and sees that thoughts are crucial while on the other hand behavioral
