In several ways, this interview confirmed my expectations of the counseling field. I anticipated private practice would involve a variety of tasks outside of my academic preparation, and I would need to develop entrepreneurial skills. I was not surprised to hear working with family members of clients could be extremely frustrating. The amount of continuing education and tailored research also fit what I anticipated.
