QUESTION #1

1. Personally, I believe Melinda needs to breathe and think about everything carefully. Going to a peaceful location like the beach would be very good for her to clear and mind and figure out exactly what she would like to do. One personal characteristic of effective counselors that would be most helpful in this situation would be effective therapists make mistakes and are willing to admit them. They do not dismiss their errors lightly, yet they do not choose to dwell on them, either (Corey, 2013, p.20). The reason why I chose this one is because sometime when people make a mistake they should take it as a lesson and move forward. Two ethical issues from chapter 3, I need to consider would be focusing on bother individual and Environmental factors, and the role of assessment and diagnosis in counseling.

QUESTION #2

1. Based on Adler’s view on birth order I think it is extremely correct when it comes to my family experience. I am the oldest child in the family and I get all the attention and I am truly spoiled. Anything I want, I always get. My experience is consistent regarding his take on sibling relationship and birth positon. My 18 years old brother is the middle child and he often feels squeezed out. He does most of the things around the house.

1. I feel that this notion is correct because the client and therapist has to build some type of connection and it makes one another trust each other. According to the book, the existential approach has helped bring the person back to central focus, it concentrates on central facts of human existence: self-consciousness and our consequent freedom (Corey, 2013, p. 157).
