One theory on how Rome could have fallen is Barbaric Invasion. How, they could have invaded the city, killed the populace, overthrown the government, etc. The U.S. cannot fall like that because there are no barbaric invaders. The other nations could have advanced ahead and Rome was left in the dust. They would have had a growing population that they had to supply for and just couldn't meet the demands. They could have tried to meet the demands of the people and fail, so they would try to find a new way to do it but again failed the process. Many people could have been malnourished and rioted or just plain starved to death. The government could have been protested against which could have met in their demise of the nation.
An opposing viewpoint could be that the U.S. will be able to fall like Rome. An opposing reason could be that the populace of Rome did not like their current leader then. So they would have rioted and protested probably not getting what they wanted. So the people could have been angry enough to riot the government directly and could have assassinated another emperor in the process. The next emperor could not be ready for the job and make lousy decisions that could have ended their nation.
These theories have many ways to be disproven and have not been proven true. The U.S. and Rome have many differences and this proves that they will not fall in the same
